Sandra
was born and brought up on the Isle of Lewis.
Her love of Gaelic music began at the age of five when she would
compete at the local Mods.
She
left the island in 1987 and moved to Edinburgh where she became involved
in the traditional music scene and was one of the founder members of the
band Tannas. With Tannas
she performed at festivals throughout Europe and regularly toured in
Italy, France and Spain. They
recorded three CDs Oighreachd, RuRa and Suilean Dubh.
She
has sung with many different artists, performing on recordings with Alan
Stivell, Big Sky, Anna Murray and has also appeared on numerous
television productions.
Sandra
has taken up acting and has appeared in the short film “An Clach Gorm”
as well as taking part in comedy sketches.
She has recently completed some narration for folklore cartoons.
Sandra
can most often be seen singing with The Scottish Stepdance Company, who
released their debut album last year.
She
is currently planning her first solo album, which she hopes to release
by the end of this year with some of her own songs.
